New Scientific Advisor: Dr. Sergiu Pasca
Sergiu Pasca, M.D., has joined the JCC Board of Scientific Advisors. Dr. Pasca is the Kenneth T. Norris, Jr. Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University, and the Bonnie Uytengsu Family Director of the Stanford Brain Organogenesis Program. Additionally, Pasca is a Chan Zuckerberg Bio-Hub Investigator and a Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Ben Barres Investigator.

Dr. Sergiu Pasca
Pasca’s lab is world-renowned for their innovative modeling of neural circuits. They’ve developed self-organizing 3D neural organoids that resemble parts of the brain like the cerebral cortex and contain interconnected neurons and multiple distinct brain cell types. Furthermore, his lab has used these tools to provide unique insight into genetic brain disorders.
Pasca graduated from medical school at the Hatieganu School of Medicine in Romania before moving to Stanford for postdoctoral training. As a postdoc Pasca pioneered the generation of 3D neural organoids from pluripotent stem cells.
We welcome Dr. Pasca to the JCC Board of Scientific Advisors!
