September 22, 2011

Carol Prives, DaCosta Professor of Biology at Columbia University, is delighted to join the BSA this year. “The quality and breadth of applicants for this fellowship is extremely impressive, as are my fellow scientific board members,” she says. “It is an honor to be able to participate in the mission of this important biomedical research foundation.” Prives has made significant contributions in the field of the tumor suppressor protein p53. Recently, her laboratory discovered novel regulators of Mdm2, the protein that holds p53 in check. Among her honors, Prives is a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
